In 1983, a degree in banking and finance from Loughborough University of Technology took Jos to American National Bank and Trust Co of Chicago, involved in lending to US subsidiaries and from there, in 1986, to S.G Warburg, responsible for capital markets, bond issues, commercial paper and MTN programs for Japanese subsidiaries in Europe. His last three years at Warburgs were in the real estate team, devising structured banking and bond issues for the UK property sector.
In 1991 he joined Barings, eventually to become head of the team responsible for securitisations, banking and corporate finance for European real estate clients. In 1998 Jos joined Lazard Bros as head of the 18 man property division running three funds. He disposed of this business for Lazards and went on to run their M&A unit in European real estate. From 2000 to 2007, Jos was CEO of Pramerica's real estate private equity business, founded four funds, the last of which raised $700 million of equity. These funds were involved in many noteworthy real estate transactions across Europe. He is a member of The Chartered Institute of Bankers.
